DELL D610 Drivers Hiding Online (below)

The Dreaded and
Totally Annoying
DELL LATITUDE D610 and Other
High Frequency AUDIO BUZZ USB Device
and Flash Graphics PROBLEM
and
Free Working SOLUTION
You are visitor
This is a noise created whenever an
external non-grounded USB device like a mouse or card reader is plugged into one
of the USB ports on a Dell laptop like a Latitude D610.
Engineers at Dell either totally
ignored this obvious defect, or just didn't bother to fix it.
For years.
And, they still refuse to supply
users with the solution.
If you don't hear it on your Dell laptop,
either your ears are burned out, or the ambient noise level where you are using
your laptop is louder than the noise, so don't worry about it. My educated guess
is that the engineers at Dell initially did not work in a quiet enough
environment where they could hear this noise, or they simply felt it was not
loud enough to be relevant.
Unfortunately, as can be seen by the
large number of web posts about this issue, yes, many of us DO notice.
When I
recently posted a simple solution to this issue on their web forum, the forum
moderators DELETED my message-- Why?
I used
this sentence:
"The
noise is a pain in the butt."
The word
"butt" is prohibited on the Dell Forum.
Unbelievable, butt true.
BUTT it is not prohibited here
The
moderators are apparently like Mormons on Crack. (no insult to
Mormons, only Mormons on crack.
I then
modified my post to read
"butte".
It was
also deleted, since I substituted a word, butte, for butt.
Yep.
I then
substituted the word Gluteus Maximus, and told the story of how
"butt" was a forbidden word, that got my post deleted.
This
humorous post, was also deleted.
I think
to call the Dell Forum Moderators ANAL, and/or
anal retentive--
is the perfect adjective, at the very least. :-)
Below is
the verbatim email I received from them notifying me of my
"violation", showing the now deleted post.

No conspiracy, we do appreciate you bringing this
information to the forums.
The issue with your previous posts was due to a DCF

I apologize if this did not happen.

Title: AUDIO BUZZ USB DEVICE and OTHER, D610 and
other Latitudes
This post contains an
alternate version of a word that has prohibited use
on the Dell Forum.
This includes using alternate words, symbols or
characters to circumvent the content filter. If a
word is not acceptable for posting in this Forum,
substituted versions of the words are also not
acceptable.
In compliance with the Dell Community Forum Terms of
Service Agreement, the post will be removed as we

As the original author, you can re-post without the
questionable/objectionable content. For your
convenience, the
following is a copy of the original post:
"Yes, well I finally
got around to the message explaining my "VIOLATION"
which is frankly, UNBELIEVABLE.
The violation had to do with including a word that
referred to a part of the human anatomy,
scientifically call GLUTEUS MAXIMUS. Is use of
GLUTEUS also PROHIBITED?
People ought to know that the word I used is NOT the
word used to describe a four legged mammal that
looks like a donkey.
It is a word that five year old children can be
heard to say frequently, a word beginning with the
letter B and ending with two T's. Yes, I am not
kidding.
I will forward the email to anyone who simply cannot
believe this. An unbelievable bit of censorship
here, that is frankly, worthy of Saturday Night
Live, Monty Python, or Mr. Rogers' own disbelief.
I had this sentence, edited here, BUT for general
audiences:
"...a pain in the [gluteus maximus]..."
That's right viewers. This is too hot for Dell Forum
Moderators.
If you are shaking your head in disbelief, join
the club.
And if this wasn't enough--- are you sitting
down?---
when I reposted substituting a word meaning
An isolated hill with steep sides and a small flat
top (figure that one out)
or the name of a city in MONTANA
THAT message was deleted for word SUBSTITUTION.
I supposed this message will be deleted because its
in violation for being "off topic".
Come on DELL MODERATORS--- PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE
leave this one--
people need some COMIC RELIEF, they need a laugh now
and then-- this will have people rolling on the
floor."

our efforts at this time are to inform users of

The cure is SIMPLE
and FREE:
Close the ground by
plugging in HEADPHONES into the headphone jack or
Plug in a 1/8"
headphone adapter jack or dummy plug into the headphone jack.
You will of course
lose the ability to hear audio through the speakers. But that is the
curse of this design defect.
To regain use of the
speakers without the audio high frequency buzz, you will have to
unplug the USB device.
MORE
BELOW:
I recently bought a DELL
LATITUDE D610 computer and
Immediately noticed in a quiet room the
occurrence of a high frequency ELECTRONIC BUZZ
NOISE that occurred immediately upon
plugging in an external USB device like:
A USB MOUSE
A USB CARD READER
I also noticed the BUZZ occurs when looking at
certain graphics such as
FLASH on a Web Site.
A web search soon tuned up the obvious
observation that this was an EXTREMELY COMMON
PROBLEM not only with the Dell Latititude D610 but many other
Dell computers as well.
In fact, it appears to be a
DESIGN FLAW that Dell Engineers ignored or missed.
A complete search through the Official Dell
Web Site and Support Site comes up with nothing, despite the fact
that this is an extremely common problem.
So now I must post my own independent page
about this issue and the fix so that other owners can remedy this
design defect, without having to rely on Dell, which seems to fail
to admit this defect, and denies that it exists-- which it most
certainly does as far as I can see-- If I'm missing this on the Dell
site-- let me know, but I sure can't find any info.
This is an extremely
annoying sound when in a quiet room- although it will be less
obvious, or not noticed when ambient sound levels are high enough in
the background-
Speaking with a
computer engineer-- the AUDIO BUZZ High FREQUENCY NOISE that occurs
when plugging in a USB MOUSE, USB CARD READER, or any other
ungrounded external USB device--
is the result
of an OPEN GROUND being created when such a device is attached to a
USB port on this machine.
Why this happens with
FLASH animation is not certain- but it does as well-- probably
related as well to the construction of the video card components.

MISSING DELL D610
Drivers play HIDE AND SEEK on the DELL SUPPORT SITE:
Dell plays a nasty trick for owners of
the Latitude D610-
If you your trying to to download your
drivers because you want to do a fresh install without the official
Latitude D610 restore disc- hahah! Have fun...
Dell has TWO identical looking driver
download pages-- and they both look quite official.
Except one is entirely incomplete.
