Alas, all things must pass. My visit to the former Dormant Brain Lab property
showed the vast change that this bit of wilderness has gone under, and much of what
was once so beautiful and simple is gone-- in the name of "progress". But, as a
woodpecker makes a new home out of a dead tree trunk, we can use our creativity to
find new purpose in things no longer once as they were. Lemonade from lemons, perhaps
even here...
This actual woodpecker's home was found on the ground among the remaining dismembered
logs from T.D. Lingo's own forest log cabin home of 35 years. I brought it back to town
with me, and will offer it as a home for some city slicker birds in my back yard... I am sure
the future inhabitants will chirp away happily in it, singing their own bird "brain" songs.
