IF YOU DON'T HEAR INSTANT MUSIC- Install Midi-Gate by going here, and follow the directions. Midi-Gate. However, you may have other problems playing other kids of audio Files on MIDI GATE-this is BAD. If this is the case, read on.......
The older version Netscape Browser Audio "Plug-Ins" work quite well, I recommend you get them by getting the Netscape 3.04 version browser free, keep reading.
Your browser (AOL, Internet Explorer, Netscape communicator) Doesn't play instant MIDI music? Makes you save files, open them, pain in the......) Of course, the easiest solution is to just turn on your regular radio or stereo which probably sounds great. Please note, playing MIDI files on your computer will also slow down web page loading time a bit. Insist on making your computer play music? This will be your
Okay-----After you've put Netscape 3.04 on your computer from using the two links above, THEN 1) Open your AOL/dial up account as usual to get on-line 2) "Minimize" the AOL page if you need it to, open up your connection, then click on your Netscape icon, and use IT to browse the web.
I've found not only does my page look and sound WAY better using this browser, but probably a lot of other pages will too. (Clearer images, faster, uses 1/2 the memory space of IE on your computer!, puts in web page information AOL or IE leave out!) Nobody said finding HIDDEN MUSICAL TREASURE was going to be completely effortless.
If you would like hearing something musical with your right brain while your left brain hemisphere is reading web text- although some may find this distracting rather than inspiring- I would like to suggest the source web page MIDI file download site you can visit. Just click (like your amygdala) on a Classical composition you think you might like, and your computer will download the piece in just a few brief moments (about 5-30 seconds depending on computer, modem speed, etc.), and your computer (if equipped with a sound card and MIDI file reader) will play nice music for you while you visit the rest of my site.
You can download several while you're there, and when one stops, you can start up the next easily from the BOTTOM OF YOUR WINDOWS 95 SCREEN- again, just click. Bookmark the Archives page, so you can keep downloading music as often as it runs out. You can browse all my pages and the music should still keep playing. Older computers and those without MIDI capability will not be able to do this. But, silence is golden anyway. And, heck, if you still want music, I contend than your regular stereo probably sounds a zillion times better than any internet downloaded music anyway. (That's why I encourage you to get my music through the mail- it's the only way you'll REALLY hear it the way it should be heard.)
In the meantime, enjoy Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart here.
EXTRA NOTE: You can copy your 3.04 Plug-Ins to other versions
of Netscape, like Communicator. Look for the plug-in folder under
your c:\program files...then Netscape...then program...and
copy (don't "move" COPY them.) the whole plug-in folder
to the newer browser plug-in
folder, and they
will then work in the new browser. IF LOADING 3.04 messes up your
Communicator Browser, just reinstall it again from the same
Download site, and all the great 3.04 plug-ins will be transfered/added
to your Communicator reinstall. This may be a lot of work, but
it is worth it REALLY. Good luck!
